After six victories for the Italian volleyball team, this year Gunes Vakifbank Istanbul from Turkey defeated Infoplus Minetti Imola from Italy in the finals of the Challenge Cup (3:2 (-17, 19, -28, 11, 5)). As one of the top three competitions in European volleyball, Challenge Cup held his semifinals and finals in Bursa, Turkey.

In semifinals Infoplus Minetti Imola met the Romanian team Stiinta Bacau. Even if the Romanian girls lead the first half of the first set and was equal to the Italian team till the end of the third set, Infoplus Minetti Imola won (1:3 (-20, -22, 22, -18)). Between the other two teams participating in the Final Four Challenge Cup ( VakifBank Gunes S. Istambul and Dresdner SC from Germany) it was a nice game going on dominated by the Turkish squad (3:0).

The final battle between Gunes Vakifbank Istanbul (Turcy) and Infoplus Minetti Imola (Italia), decided the winner. And it was Gunes Vakifbank Istanbul bringing the second continental trophy in the club’s history after the Top Teams Cup success in 2004.
